How Mission-Net became what it is

The story of Mission-Net actually begins in the 1970s with the International Congress on World Evangelization in Lausanne, Switzerland. From there originated the strong wish to mobilise young people from all nations for a missionary and missional way of life. In Europe this finally culminated in the first Mission-Net Congress that took place in Oldenburg, Germany, over Easter in 2009 - with more than 3000 young women and young men from 47 different countries.

At that congress the young participants learned about way in how to be active citizens and to demonstrate God’s love. They  were encouraged to write letters to the EU with the help of Micah Challenge. The participants collected clothing for Latvia and donated money to a Ugandan and a Latin American youth project. They also went out in Oldenburg and cleaned parts of the city, visited the elderly people’s homes and played soccer with kids on the street.

After the congress people were encouraged to join short term service trips in various European nations to put into practice what they had learned at the congress. 

The Congress of 2009 aimed and the next one on New Year 2011/12 will again aim to ignite an ongoing, pan-European movement of young people between 16 and 30 who want to live missionally every day. 

Mission-Net is international. The management of Mission-Net and all those that will participate in its events are truly international, coming from many of the different European countries.

Mission-Net is evangelical. Mission-Net subsribes to the Lausanne Covenant´s Statement of Faith.

Mission-Net is young. Our focus is on people between the ages of 16 and 30. We want to harness and release the full potential of youth to partner with what God is doing in the world today.

Mission-Net is a network. As the name implies, we exist to join the dots between an individual, their passion and calling, and an opportunity. We are not promoting any one organisation. We are merely a platform where individuals can be linked to a group that can help them fulfil the purposes of God for their life.

Mission-Net is trustworthy. We are comissioned by and accountable to the European Evangelical Alliance and the European Evangelical Missionary Alliance. We are committed to full transparency in all matters and consider trustworthiness and integrity as some of our highest values.
