Here are the important facts:
Help Micah Challenge to shine a light on corruption...Europe’s key role
On March 21st I (Evi) will be heading to Brussels to handover all the postcards we collected to the Danish Government at Mission-Net in support of Micah Challenge’s “Shining a Light on Corruption” campaign.
The EU is the second largest home of oil, gas and mining companies in the world, but many companies are not transparent about how much they pay for access to natural resources, and this secrecy can lead to major corruption and a lost opportunity to tackle poverty.
Because of this, it's critically important that the EU passes effective transparency legislation - which would allow people to hold their leaders to account and break free from poverty.
Which is where Micah Challenge is asking for our help. A handful of Members of the European Parliament (MPEs) have a vital role to play, these MEPs from every member state sit on the committees covering these issues, and it’s up to them to ensure that EU countries finally agree effective transparency legislation. They need to hear from us.
Micah Challenge has an simple online action tool that can be used by individuals to email MEPs, they've had an amazing response but are still looking for individuals in the following countries to send a message to their MEPs.
